Problem with motherboard?

Postby ThunderstruK » Sun Jun 13, 2010 11:41 pm

Hi, I recently bought an ECS 785GM-M motherboard (from internetct) and have finally completed a build. When I came to installing windows, it began loading the drivers etc, however, usually before it gets to the point where XP begins to install, the computer freezes and the display becomes slightly messed up (I can provide a picture if required since it is hard to describe!). I am currently using the onboard graphics. I have tried installing windows numerous times however it has frozen each time, but at random points. There is also seems to be no correlation between temperatures and freezing as it freezes no sooner if i restart the computer an try again or if i leave it to cool down. The hardware which I am using is as follows:
-ECS 785GM-M motherboard
-OCZ PLatinum 3 DDR3 ram
-AMD Athalon X3 445 (3.1 GHZ)
-WD 80GB HDD
-LG DVD writer
-Case and 450W PSU

I have been looking on the internet an have read that such problems may be caused by the graphics card (internal in this case)?

Any help would be appreciated...

Many thanks,

Ben

The first thing I would advise if possible is to try installing using a Graphics Card instead of the Onboard Chipset. Also this Could be an Issue with RAM, you should also try and use different RAM if possible just to eliminate that before going any further.

Please let us know how you go on and we will endeavour to help as much as possible.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I have no pci graphics cards that will fit as i only have two 8800gtx which are too big to fit in the case. I have tried the ddr3 memory on their own and in different slots, but since it is paired im guessing it is supposed to be together anyway. By making these changes, the same problem was still there.

Ok I would suggest contacting our Returns department to discuss sending the board back to us as it could be faulty. To contact returns please use the link below.
